• Whereas the standard diatonic harmonica in the key of C allows the playing of 2 chords (C and G), the medical harmonica can play 8 chords (F, F7, C, C7, G, G7, D, D7) 
  
  
• Lower pitch (7 semitones) then the key of C diatonic harmonica used in the original program. This provides more pulmonary challenge as more air is required and at the same time gives a richer more pleasing tone, especially for chording.
  
  
• For those who advance in their playing ability, the medical harmonica can be played diatonically (with individual notes) as well as its main use as a chording instrument (multiple note playing).
