 WHAT ARE THE GOALS IN
​ EXERCISING THE LUNGS?
  • To strengthen the muscles of respiration (breathing), including the diaphragm.
    This includes both the inhaling and exhaling muscles.

  • To exercise the lungs above the “comfort zone" in the maximal inspiratory (inhaling) range.

  • To exercise the lungs below the “comfort zone" in the maximal expiratory (exhaling) range.
